PARKING GRARGE TROLLY
** SPECIAL EVENTS SUCH AS CHASCO FIESTA MAY CHANGE TROLLY SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY **
From the Downtown NPR website “To combat the stress of street parking, the parking area on the corner of Main and US 19 is now open every day from 7:30 am to midnight. It is a short stroll from the parking structure to visit the downtown area.
For those who prefer to forgo the walk, there is now an 11 passenger, fully ADA accessible electric-powered trolley making the rounds from the garage to the city center. Rides on the DART (Downtown Area Roundabout Trolley) are free and are available Thursdays and Fridays from 5:00 p.m. until midnight, Saturdays from noon until midnight, and Sundays from noon until 6:00 p.m.

The trolley has five stops, from the Shops at Stonehaven to Main Street West of River Road. Special events and holidays may change the operating schedule of the trolley. The City of New Port Richey hopes that providing free, convenient access to parking will encourage locals to experience all that our beautiful downtown has to offer.”

About Chasco Fiesta

History
Chasco Fiesta began in 1922 when New Port Richey citizens planned a celebration to attract people to their thriving young city and raise funds for the community library. Gerben DeVries, the city’s first postmaster, was tasked with creating something new for the program. Inspired by his interest in Florida Native American tribes and the enchanting beauty of the Pithlachascotee River flowing through the city, he created a fictional pageant combining these elements. This pageant gave the celebration its theme and introduced the central characters, King Pithla and Queen Chasco, after whom the festival is named.
Now in its 103rd year, Chasco Fiesta continues its legacy of community involvement and charitable giving. The 2025 event will run from March 28 to April 5, with the theme “Cinema & Symphony: 100 Years of Music in Movies.”

Organization
Chasco Fiesta is organized and produced by a committee of 12 volunteers who meet and plan the event throughout the year. As a 501(c)(3) organization, Chasco Fiesta has evolved from its origins as a library fundraiser to benefit approximately 20 not-for-profit organizations in the local community and surrounding areas by providing a venue for fundraising.
The mission of the Chasco Fiesta Board of Directors is “Enhancing Lives Through Cultural Education and the Performing Arts.” The event relies on more than 700 volunteers who help make the various events happen.
